011. The Strongman Revolution (1890–1930)
Physical culture as entertainment + commerce. Eugen Sandow, Louis Cyr, George Hackenschmidt. The body as spectacle. First gyms, first magazines, first supplement marketing. The revolution: strength can be trained systematically, not just inherited.
022. The Golden Era (1965–1980)
Arnold, Franco Columbu, Frank Zane. The split routine is born: chest Monday, back Tuesday. Joe Weider’s principles (supersets, drop sets, pyramids) become gospel. The revolution: muscle hypertrophy has a method — volume + progressive overload + nutrition.
033. The Aerobics Explosion (1980–1995)
Kenneth Cooper’s research + Jane Fonda’s VHS. Cardio becomes a moral imperative. Low-fat diets dominate. The revolution: cardiovascular health is trainable, and women are a fitness market.
044. The CrossFit Wave (2000–2015)
Greg Glassman’s “constantly varied functional movements at high intensity.” The WOD, the box, the Games. The revolution: community + competition + functional movement > isolation machines.
055. The Online Coaching Boom (2015–2020)
Instagram coaches, macro tracking apps (MyFitnessPal), remote programming. FitnessByMaddy launches here. The revolution: your coach doesn’t need to be in your city — daily WhatsApp > weekly gym visit.
066. The Data-Driven Era (2020–2025)
WHOOP, Oura Ring, CGMs, HRV tracking, sleep scores. Training shifts from feel-based to metric-based. The revolution: recovery is a training variable, not an afterthought.
077. The AI-Personalised Frontier (2025→)
GPT-generated meal plans, computer-vision form checks, genetic-response nutrition (nutrigenomics). The revolution in progress: the plan adapts in real-time to what your body is actually doing.
